This portrait was created as cards as a gift for Maria Shriver's 50th birthday. I drew her as Dorothy of the Wizard of Oz. I knew she was pulled out of the world she had loved as a journalist and thrust into the roll of First Lady of California. In a thank you note she wrote, "I laughed out loud at how clever, how flawless, the drawing is, and the caption summed up my thoughts to perfection. I'd like to make them my official First Lady cards - though I'm not sure Protocol would agree. I will send them out to all my friends who can understand - I'm sure not in Kansas anymore, Toto!"
